TRENTON, N.J. – Noted goaltending consultant Chris Kanaly has named the Trenton Titans’ Goaltending Coach, the team announced.
Kanaly, 38, who played in the crease collegiately at Hofstra, has worked with several Junior-level teams and is the owner of Kanaly Goaltender Training and Team Kanaly Elite Hockey in Southampton. He has trained over 150 goaltenders at different levels.
“I was talking to (head coach) Vince Williams and (President/CEO) Rich Lisk the last few weeks about this,’’ said Kanaly. “I’m looking forward to joining the Titans family.
Williams is glad to have Kanaly on board.
“It’s excellent to have him,’’ he said. “Chris will be working closely with our goaltenders, and will be a major help in that area.”
Kanaly stresses one area he focuses on in aiming for improvement and consistency.
“I don’t teach or change goalie styles, as I feel every goalie is unique,’’ he said.”I stress the mental aspect of the game, reading plays and understanding the game to help the individual achieve consistency and success at the highest possible level.’’
The Titans will play two preseason games, meeting Elmira at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 7 at Pro Skate in Monmouth Junction, and visiting Reading at the Sovereign Center at 4:05 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 9.
The team makes its regular-season ECHL return at Elmira Oct. 14, with a scheduled 2011-12 home-opener vs. Florida Oct. 22. All Titans games will be broadcast on 107.7 FM “The Bronc” and via the Internet at http://www.1077thebronc.com/ with Daryle Dobos calling the action.
